CSB Receives $655,000 Workforce Development
Grant

The Compassionate Communities Workforce Development
Initiative in Cobb, Cherokee and Douglas Counties received a $655,000
boost from the U.S. Department of Labor for faith-based initiatives
in workforce development. Congressman Johnny Isackson, right, presents
the grant check Monday to Tod Citron, executive director of the
Cobb and Douglas Community Services Board and chairman of the Cobb
Community Collaborative, and John Helton, center, executive director
of Cobb Works! Some 15 to 18 organizations in the three county area
with grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 to implement, enhance
or support existing workforce development activities. Deadline for
applications is Aug. 30. The Cobb grant was one of only nine approved
out of 120 nationwide.
