Supported Employment

The Supported Employment Department of the Cobb and Douglas County Community Services Boards is committed to customizing employment for persons with developmental disabilities, mental health, and/or addictive diseases. The staff assists persons in entering and maintaining competitive employment based on the needs of the job seeker and employer. The job coaches in the Supported Employment Program are certified by the Human Services Management Institute at the University of Georgia. Our  Employment Program is the first to have all of its job coaches certified, ensuring competent staff well-versed in the latest in employment services, especially Customized Employment. Our goal is to guide people toward a positive work experience.

  • Supported employment benefits the individual consumer, the employer and the community. The program provides access to a valuable labor pool, lower recruitment and training costs, a reduced turnover, access to tax credits, and most importantly, a motivated worker. Some of the local companies that participate in our program include: Deloitte Consulting, HomeBanc Mortgage, Affiliated Computer Services, Century 21, and Regents Bank.

    Including people with disabilities among your workforce has been shown to reduce start up time for new employees, increase morale and production, improve teamwork and communication, and provide a positive community image. All  employment services are free to employers.
