Supported Employment
The Supported Employment Department of the
Cobb and Douglas County Community Services Boards is committed to
customizing employment for persons with
developmental disabilities, mental health, and/or addictive
diseases.
The staff assists persons in entering and maintaining competitive
employment based on the needs of the job seeker and employer. The job coaches in
the Supported Employment Program are certified by the Human Services
Management Institute at the University of Georgia. Our
Employment Program is the first to have all of its job coaches certified,
ensuring competent staff well-versed in the latest in employment
services, especially Customized Employment. Our goal is to guide people toward a positive work experience.
Customized Employment offers:

Supported employment benefits the individual consumer,
the employer and the community. The program provides access to a
valuable labor pool, lower recruitment and training costs, a reduced
turnover, access to tax credits, and most importantly, a motivated
worker. Some of the local companies that participate in our program
include: Deloitte Consulting, HomeBanc Mortgage, Affiliated Computer
Services, Century 21, and Regents Bank.
Including people with disabilities among your workforce has been
shown to reduce start up time for
new employees, increase morale and production, improve teamwork
and communication, and provide a positive community image. All
employment services are free to employers.
